Welcome!
To Mike & Vanessa Vanhorn's Site devoted to Ireland's wild & friendly 'solitary' Dolphins.
We have spent the last 4 years or so researching wild & friendly Dolphins in Ireland. We celebrate everyone who is inspired by our dolphins in Ireland and around the globe from swimmers, divers, marine biologists, students, photographers to artists & musicians.
Dolphin Days is committed to raising awareness to the issues of climate change & by-catch that are already effecting Cetaceans here in Ireland. We have a particular interest in the welfare of Irelands Friendly Bottlenose Dolphins, Fungi, Dusty, Duggie & Sandy.
Though we will be addressing some very serious issues, we are also here to guide people swim and interact with wild Dolphins(solitary Dolphins only).
Dolphins may be our chief concern, but we also cover Whales, Porpoises, Seals and support the protection of Birds of Prey.
We support the interaction of humans with solitary Dolphins who have sought us out.! We do not believe that wild dolphins become dependent on human contact. As the dolphin we intereact with is quite often alone through out the winter months and she is strong healthy & surviving very well without us.
We also know that Írelands wild & friendly dolphins socialise with wild pods of dolphins quite regularly. So to refer to them as solitary is incorrect.
